...and I'm sure you want to hear all about it!
If I wasn't too lazy I'd look up how many gallons it takes to flush a toilet. Anyone know? Anyway, I'll spare you the details, but we've been flusing the toilet a lot less around here. Might be just a little gross, but it's Green!
Me too! Me too!
ReplyDeleteSame in the Heinrich household. I started doing this while pregnant, why flush 4-5 times a night? The habit just kind of stuck, especially upstairs, downstairs we are a little better about "flushing for company" :)
ReplyDeleteOlder toilets use about 5 gallons per flush (gpf) and the newer low flow toilets use about 1.6 gpf. I think ours is newer one in this house since the reports we got showed they completely redid it a few years ago. And with most of you in newer homes, yours should be low flow, too. I know Santa Rosa Water Auth will send out test kits you can use to test how efficient you toilet is.
ReplyDeleteSince we only have one toilet, it's harder for us to have the no flush rule - since it's also the one for company.
Also, Sequoia's dad lives with us, and though I don't mind when Sequoia or Avery (or myself) don't flush everytime, for some reason I don't want to follow his dad... make sense?? When I know he's (G'dad) not going to be home most of the day, we, too, hold off on flushing. At the very least, Avery and I will tend to go at the same time with one flush for the two of us. So it's something.
It's a concept Sequoia doesn't much like. Maybe I can work on changing his mind for the months his dad travels.
We haven't been flushing the toilet since Victoria was born. She would wake up everytime we flushed the toilet. But, we do flush it for company since we only have one toilet. Oh, and we flush everytime after #2. I really don't want to see my hubby's crap, let alone, him see mine.
