Trash Can

I'm joining you with the smaller trash can.
We did have a 35 gallon before Victoria, but then got the 64 for all those diapers.
Now we don't have alot of diapers or trash, so save us money I switched to the 35 gallon again.
Now if I can get Dan to remember to take the trash out every Thursday night!

  1. I think I might switch to the smaller, too. Saving money is always an incentive! Oh yeah, and the Earth, too. :-)

Anyone out there with a trash compactor? Is it worth having? A former neighbor had one and they had the 35 gal can. No kids and just the two of them, so that could make a difference over a household of four people. I am considering it...

  2. I am surprised with how little garbage we make. I think it's from a combo of being really good about recycling and not buying nearly as much as we used to.

I just put my first bag of the week in the can. So it'll be one bag that gets dumped this week. I used to have 2-3, now it's 1 - maybe 2.

  3. Yea Todhunters! I think we do about 2 a week, too. I think our trash is only as big as it is due to no disposal... all that food waste in the trash. I hope to get my compost can here soon which will reduce that. On the list!!!

  4. Can you put your compost, fruits and veggies at least, in your green can over in Petaluma? That has saved us room in our dinky can :)

  5. Calvin has been known to take a sledgehammer (or some big heavy thing) and smash the garbage down in the can when necessary (in response to the trash compactor comment). We've had the smallest one for years. Now, using mostly cloth diapers we have NO PROBLEM with not enough space.

  6. Good idea, Calvin! A manual compactor! We will just try that and save the money and energy!
