Okay, so I dug out the manual on ours to find out which Eddie Bauer it is, and it turns out it is the Cosco Elite (Alpha Omega) - second to the last on the Convertible list. :-( He's been riding in it for two years now... is it worth replacing?

Although the report is a little disheartening, I don't personally think it is worth replacing at this point. It is of course up to you, but I would have a hard time knowing where to draw the line about worrying, if that makes any sense.

I think that reports like this have a place in impacting your future purchases, but as far as your current carseat, I wouldn't stress to much about it.

Any other opinions?

PS I hope that didn't sound to forward or even rude... I am just trying to say I think I'd keep what you have if I were you :)

These things tend to plague me. I can't take the "oh well" attitude (as much as I'd like to sometimes), but I can't replace everything I have either. If we were to replace all things "bad" we'd have to strip our entire house and buy new flooring, beds, furniture, as well as cars, toys, clothes, everything. Next time I need to replace something, I'll take all this new info and go from there and not let it bother me too much.

Maybe I'll just drive with my windows down more for ventilation, but then that's bad for gas mileage... WE CAN'T WIN!

But if you feel strongly about it and it will give you piece of mind, go ahead and replace it! I thought for a split second on whether we should, but after $500 in carseat purchases, I just can't do it!

Yeh! After the price of carseats, I'm not going to replace ours. It will just make me think more with the next purchase.

I didn't think it was worth replacing, especially since there won't be another child coming along to use it. Besides, I have driven lots of times with the windows down, left the windows down while parked in the garage, and he threw up one time and I had to completely wash the cover and all. So, maybe that helped. I have a feeling that it's the fabric portions that are the biggest culprits - due to the study having what seemed like the same model with different pattern style getting different ratings.

Thanks for all the feedback, and none was taken as "too forward!" I appreciate you all and your opinions!

And I agree that to replace everything is nearly impossible, if for no other reason than finances. So, like everyone else, I will just make more educated future purchases.

So to catch you up...

Jennifer started this blog because she was going through the process of becoming more conscious of her lifestyle choices and had decided to "go green". As she talked to her friends she quickly realized that she was not the only one interested in making changes. The blog was born. We used this as a place to discuss things we've tried and to support each other in the journey.
