The Eating Local Thing

I know we're all trying to be more conscious about this. No Impact Man's blog (under cool blogs) had a good post on that and talked about the new book, The 100 Mile Diet. Their website is interesting too, 100milediet.org

Since moving to CA, Sequoia and I rarely seem to eat at the chain places anymore. (except for the rare salsa run to Chili's!) We find that the food is better, and so is the atmosphere, at the "ma and pa" type places. Nicely in Sonoma County there are plenty of these non-chain places to go! We were frequenting this one Vietnamese place near our old apt so much that the family who owns it knows us, and knew what we wanted before we sat down... or if I called for take-out, once they knew it was me, were able to guess our order! (shows we don't branch out much on the menues!) Anyway, I like knowing we are contributing to a fellow community member, and not just another corporation.

Welcome Visitors!

If you're reading for the first time, it may feel a bit like you've just walked into a conversation that has been going on for awhile.

So to catch you up...

Jennifer started this blog because she was going through the process of becoming more conscious of her lifestyle choices and had decided to "go green". As she talked to her friends she quickly realized that she was not the only one interested in making changes. The blog was born. We used this as a place to discuss things we've tried and to support each other in the journey.
