Less Garbage

I noticed today as I put out the garbage that it was not full. I was surprised by how happy this made me. Now I really THINK about each thing I go to throw away. It will be a challange to try to have the garbage can be less and less full each week.

Anything, big or small, is effort made. And even if all we do in a day towards being green is notice things (that could change future behaviors), then that's something.

Thanks Sarah. :) I was telling her how I thought last nights post was dumb, but for the first time I was having trouble thinking of anything! I do have a list of things I want to do. Guess it's time to actually start going down the list.

I liked the post. It's so weird how new things are coming up for us at the exact same time. I too put my tiny garbage out yesterday and was so proud that there was one full bag in it (that includes a week of diapers!) :)

There are things I have never thought of that come up in my head or I read about then all of a sudden it's a major topic amongst us. It's so fun!

OK, lets just say it now, there are no "dumb" posts! :) Twice today I wanted to post something but didn't think it was cool enough, so Ill type it here.

First thing is, I cleaned my backyard and found 7 bubble containers. (Its been a while) For those who don't know you can recycle 'em :)They have a #2. Also, did anyone notice that the garbage truck picked up both garbage and recylcing? It was a combo truck today, is that new?
Not very interesting but its Green related!

I thought I saw that our truck did that last week and was a little concerned... like they weren't really recycling! I didn't even think about it saving on gas and pollution. I didn't pay much attention to whether or not things were being dumped into two separate areas. Cool for all of us if they've got a two compartment truck to save on energy.

Oh man, I didn't even think that may be cheating and throwing it all away! So, I looked it up and in the last newsletter it introduced their new trucks, take a look:

Very cool!

If you're reading for the first time, it may feel a bit like you've just walked into a conversation that has been going on for awhile.

So to catch you up...

Jennifer started this blog because she was going through the process of becoming more conscious of her lifestyle choices and had decided to "go green". As she talked to her friends she quickly realized that she was not the only one interested in making changes. The blog was born. We used this as a place to discuss things we've tried and to support each other in the journey.
